PS5 Edition of Spider-Man Features Peter Parker Face Change

Will the real Peter Parker please stand up?
Sony detailed more information in a blog post about Spider-Man: Miles Morales ahead of the launch day release. The Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition will come with a PS5 remaster copy of Marvel’s Spider-Man. Hidden under the specs and performance improvements of the remaster, it was revealed that there was a change in the face actor for Peter Parker. Sony says they replaced the face model for Peter Parker in the PS5 Remaster of Marvel’s Spider-man to “ get a better match to Peter Parker/Spider-Man actor Yuri Lowenthal’s facial capture.”
Reactions to the change are neutral-to-negative. Popular criticism has been the face model’s likeness to actor and MCU counterpart Tom Holland. Personally, the still photos make the face model look jarringly younger than what we know. Rather than becoming a tutor fo Miles Morales, they look closer to peers on a similar journey in discovering their powers.
Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales creative director Brian Intihar gave some insight into the creative decision into changing the face model:
Voice actor Yuri Lowenthal also chimed in and added some levity to the discourse.
The updated Peter Parker face will feature only in the Marvel’s Spider-Man PS5 Remaster, so no there won’t be a patch for the original PS4 version. The only way to get Marvel’s Spider-Man Remaster is through the Physical or Digital Ultimate Editions or after upgrading your standalone copy of Miles Morales from PS4 to PS5, Sony will offer a purchase option for the Spider-Man Remaster add-on.
The final point of the blog post revealed two new suits coming to Miles Morales with the tease of a 3rd coming at a later date.
