Overwatch World Cup Group Stage: Los Angeles Recap
By: Bryce L. Jackson
The 2nd stop of the Overwatch World Cup dropped anchor in Los Angeles to see which of six countries would punch their ticket to the knockout rounds at BlizzCon 2018.
To nobody's surprise, Team USA (1st, 5-0) and Team Canada (2nd, 4-1) took away top honors and the USA were able to claim bragging rights from their neighbors to the north in the head to head to clinch the top seed. The rest of the field did put up valiant efforts against the top two and performed admirably against each other. Brazil and Austria were crowd favorites. Brazil, composed of mostly players from Contenders South America champions Brasil Gaming House, held their own throughout the weekend with some impressive strats and individual plays, taking the team to a 3-2 record on the weekend. Each team touted talent that could be due for a promotion from either local leagues to Contenders teams or Contenders to the Overwatch League.
