MoviePass Rival Sinemia Unveils New Monthly Family Plans

by: James A. Barnes

Just two days after AMC Theaters announced their own monthly subscription service AMC A-List Sinemia has revealed a new five tier pricing plan that would include family plans for two, three, four, five, and six people.

Sinemia CEO and founder Rifat Oguz had this to say:

“Our Sinemia for Two plans have been very popular among our subscribers, which shows that moviegoers love to go to the movies with their family and friends,” “Expanding this into broader Family Plans is the next logical step for us. We take an analytical approach to the market, and after looking at the data from the five countries where Sinemia is available, we believe these new plans are the best fit for families and friend groups ranging from two to six people.”

The new family plans include a classic plan (Any Theater, No Blackout Dates, and Advanced Ticketing) that will offer 1 movie day for two people per month for $8.99 (billed annually), another classic plan that will offer 2 movie days for two people per month for $14.99. Their elite family plans (Every feature of the classic plan, including 3D, IMAX, ScreenX, 4DX and more) will offer two movie days for two people per month for $19.99, and another elite plan that offers three movie days for two people per month for $29.99.

The new offer debutes a six-person plan that ranges from $29.99 to $89.99. Sinemia's family plans are offered in the U.S., Australia, Canada, Turkey, and the U.K. The family plan can only have one membership owner, who can use the Sinemia app to purchase movie tickets.

Sinemia can be used with Fandango.com, AtomTickets.com, and MovieTickets.com, or directly through the movie theater’s website or box office.

Although Sinemia offers subscribers the ability to go to any theater, and their new family plans and pricing are enticing, AMC A-List still seems to be the better deal, offering their customers the ability to see 3 movies per week for $19.99 a month. AMC A-List gives subscribers access to advanced ticketing and will include all premium formats.
