Variety reports that "Doctor Who" and "The Crown" alum Matt Smith will be heading to a galaxy far far away for a key role in the film.
"Star Wars: Episode IX" is currently filming in the U.K. and besides his official casting, no other news have been revealed about what his role will be.
Smith will be joining fellow newcomers Keri Russell, Richard E. Grant, Dominic Monaghan, and Naomi Ackie. Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, and John Boyega are all returning for the film and Billy Dee Williams will be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian. Carrie Fisher will also be featured in the film, by using unreleased footage from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
