F. Gary Gray in talks to direct "Men in Black" Spin-off

A reboot of the popular and successful Men in Black series may have found a director to steer the ship. Deadline reports that "The Fate of the Furious" and "Straight Outta Compton" Director F. Gary Gray is in talks with Sony and Amblin to helm the film.

The script will be written by Iron Man writers Matt Holloway & Art Marcum, The studio greenlit the film based on their draft so hopefully that means we're in for something original that feels like the Men in Black world that fans loves.

When script ideas were leaked during the Sony hack, there was an idea to make a spin-off that would see 21 Jump Street stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill falling into the Men and Black universe for a team up style movie. I personally think that merging Men in Black with 21 Jump Street is a terrible idea and after all of the outrage on the internet slamming the idea, I'm glad Sony and Amblin have taken a new direction and are looking at great directors like F. Gary Gray.

The Fate of The Furious grossed $226,008,385 Domestic and made $1,236,005,118 Worldwide. Straight Outta Compton grossed $161,197,785 Domestic and $201,634,991 Worldwide on a $28 Million production budget.

F. Gary Gray has directed some of my favorite films over the years: Friday, Set It Off, The Negotiator, Law Abiding Citizen, and the Italian Job.

The Men in Black Spin-off is set to hits theaters June 14, 2019.
