Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix held a War Table event to detail the contents of the upcoming beta for players that want a preview of Marvel’s Avengers. The beta will have 3 big story missions, specific hero missions, and multiplayer co-op team missions. There will be a total of 20 missions in the beta that offer a look at the gameplay as well as RPG element interactions.
The Beta is currently set over 3 weekends starting the weekend of August 7th for PS4 Users that have pre-ordered, August 14th for pre-orders on additional platforms, then August 21st for all players without preorders on all platforms. The beta will have 3 main story missions: The Golden Gate Bridge attack we’ve seen from previous events and 2 hero story missions featuring Kamala Khan and Hulk that end in a boss battle with Abomination. After completing the hero missions, players will then interact with the multiplayer content of Marvel’s Avengers. There will be options for Solo or Online companion activities called HARM Rooms to test and learn characters and war zones, and their shorter versions drop zones for quicker, condensed missions, that reward new upgrades and loot.
Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix intend to continuously fill Maverl’s Avengers post-launch and made their intentions known by surprise dropping new hero Hawkeye and additional story missions for him.
The Marvel’s Avengers Beta is a hefty playtest that aims to impress as an ambitious comic book storytelling medium and as a live-service game. Marvel’s Avengers will release September 4th, 2020 on PS4, XBOX One with the option for Smart Delivery, PC, and Stadia.
