Edge of Tomorrow 4K Blu-Ray Review
by: Mia Francis
This movie has long been a staple amongst home theater enthusiasts, for its bombastic bass intro in the first few seconds of the movie. The fact that I had heard that this 4K release had neutered that famous intro bass sweep made me a bit disgruntled.
However, I will concede that what we lost in that first few seconds, was more than made up for in the significant improvement throughout the film with the Dolby Atmos mix vs the original DTS-MA HD and Dolby True HD mix from the Blu-ray. There is more balance and refinement in the highs and mids and the bass is more even throughout the film.
Of course, the 4K physical disc was a long-awaited release, as the digital version was ok at best. Though the movie only has a 2K digital image, there is still better texture detail. The only disappointing aspect of this disc is that there is no Dolby Vision.
All in all, this is worth picking up on 4K Blu-ray as a good upgrade to the standard Blu-ray.
