'Bohemian Rhapsody' Debuts To $50M at the Domestic Box Office
by: James A. Barnes
“Bohemian Rhapsody” were the champions this weekend taking the #1 spot at the domestic box office, pulling in $50M. The film also made $72.5M at the international box office and opened in the U.K making $12.2M, becoming one of the biggest debuts in the territory. The film’s worldwide total currently sits at $141..7M.
The film was directed by Bryan Singer and stars Rami Malek as Queen’s iconic frontman Freddie Mercury. The film received a 96% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an A CinemaScore. I don’t usually like musical biopics, but “Bohemian Rhapsody” is definitely one to see, Malek is completely unrecognizable in the film and perfectly captured the spirit and energy of Mercury.
The film also did a great job of showing us Queen’s rise to fame and the hardships that come along the way. I highly recommend watching the film and I hope you guys go out to see it in theaters.
