We’ve been graced with a year of movies that we not so patiently waited for after the disaster that was 2020. The movies on this list represent some of the best audio and video performance available on physical 4K discs this year!

Godzilla Vs. Kong - 4K BLU-RAY (DOLBY VISION/HDR 10+) - Great CGI detail and spectacular sound design and bass.
If you want a current movie to show off your system to your friends, look no further than this.
This movie was masterfully executed from a visual effects and sound design perspective, the bass leaves nothing to be desired while also being detailed and balanced.
Free Guy- 4K BLU-RAY (HDR 10) - Good 4K upscale transfer with bright specular detail .
Free Guy is the fun popcorn movie you throw on for an overall good time, and it does not disappoint with its bright HDR punch and a good 4K upscale from its original source content.
The sound mix brings this virtual world to life with lively explosions, though the bass could’ve been a bit more aggressive.
The Conjuring- The Devil Made Made Me Do It- 4K BLU-RAY (HDR 10)- Great 4K upscale and excellent cinematography.
This movie has excellent cinematography which lends well to the overall tone of this horror gem. Though Dolby Vision would’ve improved darker scenes over HDR10, the 4K upscale of this movie was well executed.
The sound design was done masterfully allowing you to feel the tension throughout the film.
A Quiet Place Part II- 4K BLU-RAY (DOLBY VISION/HDR 10)- Great color/shadow detail due to Dolby Vision and sound design that’ll have you on the edge of your seat.
There are reasons why I personally believe Dolby Vision is the better of the 2 color formats and this movie is a perfect example of why. The shadow detail and color accuracy it lends to this film with such beautiful cinematography are unmatched. The sound mix lends to the suspenseful tension-filled nature of the film and leaves you on edge the entire time.
Black Widow- 4K BLU-RAY (HDR 10)- Stunning 4K detail with an excellent sound mix.
Much like most of its MCU counterparts, Black Widow was excellently shot with beautiful cinematography and an enthralling sound mix that blends perfectly with all of its high stakes action sequences.
Venom: Let There be Carnage- 4K BLU-RAY (DOLBY VISION/HDR 10)- Sony’s Signature 4K Crisp Detail with Bass that’ll Shake your Room.
The typical crisp 4K detail that we’ve come to expect from a Sony picture is on full display here with an extra push from the excellent color detail Dolby Vision affords.
The sound mix is detailed and the bass punctuates the most dynamic moments of this rollercoaster ride of a film.
Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings- 4K BLU-RAY (HDR 10)- beautiful cinematography and enveloping sound design.
Another MCU film flexing the muscle of how much Disney/Marvel Studios prioritizes cinematography as one of the signature elements of its cinematic universe. This movie pulls you in with its graceful shorts that seem to glide through its most action-filled moments with sound design that envelopes you in the moment.
