Battlefield V's Battle Royale Not Ready For Launch Day

DICE, the company under EA making Battlefield V announced that Firestorm, their iteration of the battle royale mode, will not be available until March 2019. DICE seem to be packaging it as part of the game’s “Tides of War” free post-launch content.
Battlefield V has seemingly had a rough development period. After poor pre-order projections and woeful feedback from closed alphas and audience testing at Gamescon and other places, the release date was pushed back to November 20th and away from major releases that cluttered October. The decision to have the battle royale mode as part of their content release schedule rather than a day one game mode has a positive and negative potential outcome. The later release date offers time to properly get mode mechanics well tuned and could bring gamers back and boost concurrent player numbers for a game well into the cycle. On the downside, they run the risk of losing out on the battle royale phase that gamers are currently into.
We’ll just have to wait and see if EA can pull off this gutsy move.
