The Flash Movie Review
Barry Allen/The Flash is one of my favorite comic book characters and “The Flash” movie honored his legacy and brilliantly adapted the comic ‘Flashpoint’ which is my favorite comic book storyline of all time.
Christina Hodson and Joby Harold wrote a gripping and emotional script that explores themes of love, the effects of grief, responsibility, sacrifice, and accepting the things you can’t change. Andy Muschietti perfectly balances these themes with great action and humor and I really appreciated how Muschietti and his team brought Barry’s extraordinary powers to life while keeping them rooted in science.
Ezra Miller turns in a great performance as the Barrys and is the heart and soul of the film. They made me laugh, cry, and cheer and I can’t wait to see what Ezra does next with the character.
Speaking of great performances, Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton both get some time to shine as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Sasha Calle is great as Kara, and I want to give a huge shoutout to Maribel Verdú for her portrayal of Nora Allen. She played Nora with so much life and compassion and her scene with Ezra at the end of the film brought me to tears on both viewings.
