Summer Game Fest Kickoff Quick Recap

Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live! hosted by Geoff Keighley jumpstarted the Summer 2021 video game season with a show stacked with celebrity appearances and musical performances along with the world premiere video game trailers. None were bigger than the FromSoftware and George R.R. Martin Elden Ring.
Not only does the fabled Elden Ring have an honest-to-goodness trailer, it also but it has a release date! January 21st, 2022 (hope to whoever it stays on that date) has to be the biggest day in video games. On the levels of the Halo launch days, Call of Duty Days, and others of that magnitude just off of community fervor over this in the years leading up to this moment, this date is going to be one of those days in video games.
As for the remainder of the Summer Game Fest Kickoff, there were some great reveals, Kojima makes an appearance to drop off the Death Stranding: Director’s cut, short Q&A including one with Giancarlo Esposito discussing his character in Far Cry 6 (a personal recommendation), and the signature musical performances to mixed reception.
