Scorsese's "The Irishman" Production Budget Estimated at $140 Million

Written by: James Barnes

Martin Scorsese - Robert De Niro - Joe Pesci - Al Pacino

The moment Scorsese announced that he has making another film that would star Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesci fans have been losing their minds thinking about this legendary director working with these legendary actors telling the story of Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran (Robert De Niro), a labor union official with connections to the mob, that recalls his many criminal activities spanning decades and his involvement in the murder of Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).

Scorsese plans to use CGI to de-age Pacino, De Niro, and Pesci for flashbacks scenes throughout the film. De Niro will appear as young as 30 years old in the film. The film will debut on Netflix and is being directed and produced by Martin Scorsese, written by Steven Zaillian based on the novel "I Heard You Paint Houses" by Charles Brandt.

With a production budget of $140 Million, I believe that Scorsese is using the bulk of that money to make the de-aging CGI on Pacino, De Niro, and Pesci look as perfect as possible. This will be first time that Pacino, De Niro, and Pesci will be on screen at the same time, and the first time De Niro has been in a Scorsese film since Casino in 1995. The Irishman is set for a 2019 release.
