The San Francisco Shock smother the Vancouver Titans 4-0 in the Overwatch League 2019 Grand Finals to win the $1.1 Million Grand Prize and immortality in the Overwatch Esports history books.
San Francisco Shock Flex tank Choihyobin took home Grand Finals MVP honors, playing the Sigma masterfully in front of the Philadelphia crowd in the packed Wells Fargo Arena.
The matchup between the top two teams in the overall Overwatch League season standings was expected to produce a back and forth match reminiscent of their Stage 1 or Stage 2 Finals faceoffs, but the Shock repelled whatever the Titans threw at them. The Titans did not play poorly in any sense throughout the match. They were simply outplayed by a Shock team that has defeated their season and playoffs matchups approximately 70% of the time.
With the Finals win, San Francisco completes their plan from the Inaugural Season of the Overwatch League. Parent company NRG Esports built the team around then ineligible, but young and promising talent that carried them to the pinnacle of Overwatch Esports.
