Our Most Anticipated Games of 2018
All the hype..worth the wait ?
by: Bryce Jackson & Kyle Mills
2018 is shaping up to be a strong year for gaming enthusiasts, with a focus on strong storylines to grab our imaginations & some of the most visually stunning graphics taking advantage of the graphical processing power available in the best consoles on the market (Xbox One X Enhanced & PS4 Pro Enhanced Titles)...will these games live up to their hype ?
A Way Out (March 27th, 2018)
A game with an interesting co-op playing mechanic. That’s the only reason I have any interest in this game. That and the fact that the director is a heck of a character.
Detroit Become Human (May 25th, 2018)
The much hyped and highly anticipated Sony Exclusive has one of the more unique storytelling styles out of all the releases of this year. With branching story arcs and promises that a variety of possible scenarios can play out between the main characters, multiple playthroughs seem to be the big hook of this game.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (October 12th, 2018)
At this point Call of Duty feels like a title you just pick up because you have years of previous titles and cases and want to remain a completionist. With the franchise dipping into its most popular arc since closing the Modern Warfare trilogy, it will be interesting to see where they decide to take the story. Can’t be that far in the future because the community has made it clear they want boots on the ground gameplay, but the past to a point feels resolute when it comes to the characters we know of.
Far Cry 5 (March 27th, 2018)
Far Cry 5 maybe one of the most anticipated games of the year based on the single player aspect of it. Far Cry has come a long way, this series has taken us to Micronesia, Africa, Islands in the Pacific, the Himalayas and the Mesolithic Age. This new Far Cry takes us to the mean streets of Montana. Sarcasm at its finest.
God of War (April 20th, 2018)
I wonder why they chose that date? Must be some type of holiday or something. What makes this game exciting and one of the most anticipated is the story of the franchise and where it is going in this one. Unlike the others that followed Greek Mythology, this God of War will be based on the Norse Mythology. So, I’m assuming we be seeing some Vikings and the visuals will be amazing based on the various areas of Scandinavia.
Crackdown 3 (TBA)
Crackdown 3 might be the exclusive to save the Xbox One, I’ve heard from my good friend at Gamestop that the Xbox is slowing dying. We all knew that, but I didn’t know it was that severe. That explains why my used copy of the Division for PS4 was 20 bucks and for Xbox it was 13 bucks. Anyways, the Crackdown series follows a biologically enhanced Agent taking care of business as usual.
Marvel's Spider-Man (TBA)
The last time I enjoyed a spiderman game was the one for Playstation 1 and 2. I’m beyond excited for this one. Plus its a PS4 exclusive.
Days Gone (TBA)
This is going to be the greatest zombie playing game of all time. I’m calling it now. If you don’t believe me go on youtube. Jesus Christ I can’t wait, It is going to be insane.
Red Dead Redemption II (October 26th, 2018)
GUNDELERO!!!!!!! If you don’t know that song, I suggest you look it up. The ultimate wild wild west experience. Red Dead Redemption took my breath away when it first came out. The vast free roam, the wildlife, the multiplayer, terrorizing communities within the game, just playing poker for fun and the secret achievement/trophy for tying someone on the train tracks and watch a train run them over. That is the what makes The new Red Dead a must have this year.
